What is BCCP?

The Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (BCCP), is a portion of the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Project. This is administered by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

The BCCP program provides the following services to eligible women free of charge:

* Breast self examination education
* Clinical breast exams
* Mammography (both screening and diagnostic)
* Breast ultrasound
* Surgical examinations
* Pelvic examinations
* Pap tests
* Colposcopy (with and without) directed biopsy
* Some additional diagnostic services as needed, and linkage to treatment as medically indicated

Age and income eligibility for BCCP:

* Women age 40-49 are eligible for cervical screenings only (Pap test)
* Women age 50 and over are eligible for breast and cervical screenings (mammograms and Pap tests)
* Women age 40-49 who are symptomatic and in need of diagnostic breast services are eligible
* Women with income at or below 200% of poverty level are eligible
* Women without Medicaid, Medicare Part B, Managed Care or private health insurance are eligible
* Women with unmet large insurance deductibles will be considered on a case by case basis

Women age 30-39 years who are symptomatic and in need of diagnostic breast services can be referred to the B.E.S.T Program at 1-800-227-2345.
