Obesity Prevention Resources

The Delaware General Health District is taking the lead in
preventing obesity in Delaware County. Obesity shortens life
and drives up health care costs because it is linked to Type 2
diabetes, heart disease, certain cancers and depression. In
Delaware County, 57% of adults and 30% of elementary
school-aged children are either overweight or obese.
Solutions

The DGHD has formed the Delaware County Obesity Prevention
Subcommittee (DCOPS), a group of community leaders
who are developing a realistic action plan that Delaware government,
business and agency leaders, as well as residents
can take and help reduce obesity in our county. Ways to prevent
obesity are everywhere in our community.

Click on any of these community settings to see which actions can help us solve this costly health problem.
