Mold is naturally occurring. It can be found in outside spaces as well as indoors. Mold is almost always found in damp or moist areas. Mold problems are almost always moisture problems. The first step in getting rid of mold is removing the source of moisture. Mold cleanup can only begin once the source of moisture is identified and eliminated. It is then important to determine the size of the area affected. The level of cleanup required will vary according to extent of the mold problem. Most small mold problems (less than 10 square feet) can be addressed by the homeowner. Anything larger than 10 square feet should be handled by a professional. It is important to note that individuals with mold sensitivity should stay away from affected areas and not attempt mold cleanup.
