Any bite wound should be thoroughly washed with soap and water as soon as possible. Animal bite victims should consult with their doctor and promptly report the incident to the Delaware General Health District. Rabies is almost always fatal once clinical symptoms appear. If you have been bitten by an animal that can potentially carry rabies, please contact the Delaware General Health District at 740-368-1700 or download and send in this form (Bite Report) by faxing it to 740-368-1736, or by mailing it to the address below.
