Prevention for Childcare

Healthy Children, Healthy Weights (HCHW) is a Delaware General Health District grant-funded program to help Early Learning Centers and parents prevent child obesity and promote healthy weights in young children.

Through the HCHW Program, childcare staff learn how to modify children’s menus, daily routines and environments to improve nutrition and increase physical activity. Trainings are free and provide staff with Ohio Department of Job & Family Services professional and in-service education credits, as well as parent handouts, activity plans, resource lists, games and posters. Materials are culturally appropriate and easy to understand.

Technical Assistance
Childcare centers receive advice on physical activity best for young children and assistance in improving daycare menus with more fruits & vegetables and whole grains for lunches and snacks.
