Child Abuse and Neglect Recognition and Prevention Class: "Keeping Children Safe"

The Delaware County Children’s Services uses the approved Child Abuse and Neglect Identification Curriculum presented by Action for Children. This curriculum has been designed to meet the training requirements for child abuse and neglect recognition and prevention-. The class covers topics such as defining child abuse and neglect; indicators of child abuse/neglect; legal issues, talking with parents and children; and preventing child abuse and neglect. They offer the full six-hour initial course several times during the year including day and evening classes. The three-hour refresher course is designed for those staff members who have had the initial course and have not let their certification expire, and is offered at least twice a year.

Communicable Disease Training Class: "Recognition, Prevention and Management of Communicable Diseases"

The Ohio Department of Health in partnership with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services offers this curriculum which was developed by Healthy Child Care America. The course has been designed/approved to meet the requirements for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and the Ohio Department of Education for communicable disease training in licensed child care centers. The class covers topics such as how diseases are spread; Prevention and control diseases in child care; caring for a well and ill child; policy and procedures; and common communicable disease. We offer the full six-hour initial course several times during the year including day and evening classes. First Aid Training Class: "First Aid For Child Day Care Personnel"

Offered by Red Cross—Delaware Chapter (740-362-2021)

The Ohio Department of Public Safety, Emergency Medical Services for Children Program developed this six hour training class designed for child care staff. This course has been designed to meet the training requirements for first aid training, as outlined in the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Child Care licensing Rules. This program serves as an introduction to injury prevention concepts and basic first aid management. It will include topics such as: preventing injuries in the child care environment; being prepared for emergencies; emergency response skills; responding to specific injuries and illness; and children with special health care needs. It does not cover CPR certification, this class must be taken separately by an approved provider. They offer the full six-hour initial first aid training course several times during the year, including day and evening classes. We do not offer the 3 hour refresher class at this facility.
