Diabetes is a chronic disease that is becoming a major health issue. 5.1% of adults have diabetes, 2.7% have undiagnosed diabetes and 6.1% are developing diabetes (data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey). It is also becoming evident that younger people, adolescents, are seeing an increase in diagnosis of diabetes.

Prevention of diabetes, if possible, is the optimal scenario. Our food choices and lifestyles play a major role.

If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, there is a balancing act of food, activity and medication that will need to be juggled to maintain good health and avoid life threatening complications.
