Prenatal Resources
We provide:
- Pregnancy tests Monday - Friday 8-9 am and Tuesday 2-4 pm,
cost $2.00 (sliding fee scale)
- Health education
regarding pregnancy and reproductive health
- Referrals to other agencies and community services.
Taking
care of your body before and during your pregnancy
is very important.
If you are planning a pregnancy
- See a doctor for a physical exam including a pap test.
- Start taking prenatal vitamins.
Folic acid is especially important for your baby's development.
- Stop smoking!
Do you

- Smoking stops fetal breathing movements for 20 minutes
Smoking increases your risk of :
- Delivering too early
- Having a miscarriage
- Giving birth to a stillborn baby
- Smoking increases your baby's risk of :
- Having
birth defects
- Dying
during infancy
- Being
born too small
- Having
childhood cancer
- Crib death or SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)
- Do not take any medication
when you first begin to think you may be pregnant without talking to your doctor.
It's important
to get care during your pregnancy!
Do you know at ....
- 2-10 weeks All baby's major organs are formed, but not completely developed.
- 11-14 weeks
you can hear your baby's heart beat at your doctors visit.
- 15-18 weeks
baby's fingers and toes have soft nails, hair and eyebrows
begin.
- 19-21 weeks
you can feel your baby move! Your baby can suck its thumb.
- 22-24 weeks
your baby is nearly 10 inches long and weights 1/2 to 1
pound.
- 24-27 weeks
your baby's eyes can open. Fine hair now covers your baby's
body.
- 28-31 weeks
your baby can kick, stretch and respond.
- 32-35 weeks
your baby is 18 inches long and weighs nearly 5 pounds.
- 36-37 weeks
your baby is gaining about 1/2 pound a week.
- 38-40 weeks
your baby's lungs are ready to breathe on their own.
