The Delaware General Health District is proud to announce the Clean Food Establishment award recipients for 2007-08. The Clean Food Establishment Award is designed to recognize those food service operations or retail food establishments that excel in food safety practices throughout the year. The awards will be distributed to those operations or establishments that demonstrate this dedication through inspection results and educational programming. Scoring is based on observations of the field sanitarian during the state mandated inspections, and is not intended to be used as a grading system for compliance. The goal of this program is to promote food safety throughout the Delaware General Health District. A strong emphasis is placed on food safety education.

The Clean Food Establishment Awards will be given to establishments that achieve an average score of 90% or above for the licensing period. Two standard inspections will be conducted throughout the year and the scores will be averaged. Congratulations to all of this years recipients!

A special 5 year award was given out this year to those operations that have received the Clean Food Establishment award for the past five consecutive years.  A special ceremony was held on April 9, 2008, at the Hayes Building in downtown Delaware.  Board of Health member Pat Blayney and the staff of the Food Protection and Public Safety unit were present to recognize those establishments that achieved this great honor.  Mr. Blayney thanked those operators present for their continued dedication to maintaining a clean operation and their dedication to food safety.
