he provision of water for human consumption, if the system has fewer than fifteen service connections and does not regularly serve an average of at least twenty-five individuals daily at least sixty days each year…." Applying for a Well Permit and Receiving Approval

Applications for a Private Water System permit to install a private water systems on your new or existing property, please contact the Delaware General Health District at 740.203.2070.

The process for you Private Water System application to be approved is as follows:

1. Contact the Delaware General Health District for a PRIVATE WATER SYSTEM onsite evaluation;

2. Contact an Ohio Registered PRIVATE WATER SYSTEM Contractor to install your new Private Water System; (check below for a list of registered contractors);

3. Complete and submit the Private Water Systems Application with the application fee to the Delaware General Health District. Once the application and fee are submitted, the Private Water System application expires on year from the Health Department Sanitarian's approval date;

4. Provide a copy of he processed application to the Private Water Systems Contractor. The processed application will have a permit number in the upper right hand corner of and an audit number on the bottom right hand corner.

5. The Contractor will install the Private Water System as per Ohio Administrative Code 3701-28.

6. The Contractor(s) must thoroughly complete a well log and pump completion form and submit a copy of each the Delaware General Health District. If the pump is installed by the homeowner, then the homeowner is responsible for submitting the pump completion form.

7. The homeowner or representative must call the Delaware General Health District to schedule a water sample. Water Samples are only scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 noon to 4 p.m.

8. If the installation meets OHIO ADMINISTRATIVE CODE 3701-28, all the paperwork is acceptable, and the water sample is negative for total coliform and the nitrate level is less than ten (10) parts per million (ppm), then the private water system will be approved.

Routine Water Samples

A Delaware County resident, with an EXISTING PRIVATE WATER SYSTEM, may have their water tested by contacting the Delaware General Health District at 740.203.2070. Fees are set for all routine samples, and are dependent upon the type of test requested.

 

 

Public Water Supplies (such as: Delco, Delaware City, village of Sunbury, and Columbus City)

Residents on a Public Water Supply should contact the entity with jurisdiction over the Public Water Supply for water samples or any other problems concerning their water supply.

 

Private Water Systems Information (such as: well logs)
