Overdose Prevention
Worried that someone you know may overdose on an opioid? We are now a provider of Project DAWN Naloxone, an opioid overdose reversal medication. Kits are available at no cost.
You can obtain a Naloxone kit for FREE through one of these options:
1. Come to our Delaware office, located at 470 S. Sandusky Street, Delaware, Ohio, and request a kit from our front desk staff.
2. Click HERE to receive an individual kit in the mail.

- Maryhaven Delaware (Downtown Delaware). The public can walk-In to receive free Naloxone.

- In the U.S., over 150 people die every day from overdoses related to synthetic opioids like fentanyl. Nearly everyone who uses street drugs are at risk of fentanyl exposure and unintentional overdose. The only way to know if fentanyl is present is to use fentanyl test strips on the drugs.
- Walk-ins are welcome to the Health District for free test strips during normal business hours.
- To receive free test strips in the mail go to nextdistro.org/oh-teststrips.
- HHRC Xylazine is a non-opioid veterinary sedative found mixed with street drugs, can cause severe respiratory depression, dangerously low blood pressure, and sedation that raises the risk of overdose and death. Xylazine overdose is not reversible by naloxone!
- Walk-ins are welcome to the Health District for free test strips during normal business hours.
- The Health District supports the installation of naloxone emergency cabinets at organizations throughout the county. If your organization is interested in a naloxone box, please contact us.
