Delaware County Breastfeeding Coalition

Mission: To improve the health of Delaware County citizens by working collaboratively to protect, promote and support breastfeeding and other methods of providing human milk.

Vision: to re-establish breastfeeding as the biological and cultural norm for feeding and nurturing infants and young children throughout Delaware County.

Purpose: Our purpose is to collaborate with local businesses, providers, social service agencies, organizations, and individuals who also value the importance of human milk feeding.

Objectives

1. Increase Delaware’s breastfeeding duration rates to meet Healthy People 2030 (US Dept of Health and Human Services) goals.

2. Increase breastfeeding as a health care intervention and disease prevention strategy in the state of Ohio, as it relates to infectious disease, obesity, heart disease, diabetes, cancers, etc.

3. Protect breastfeeding as a natural civil right of mothers, babies, and families.

4. Increase knowledge of the evidence-based role of breastfeeding in infant and maternal health, and the biological role of breastfeeding in nurturing children.
